Cunard Sets Sail for Success: Record-Breaking Bookings in 2024 with Queen Anne’s Launch

December 4, 2024 By admin Leave a Comment

Cunard has achieved a remarkable milestone in 2024, announcing record-breaking bookings following the launch of its eagerly awaited new ship, Queen Anne. From January 1 to October 31, the luxury cruise line registered 73,000 more guest reservations compared to the same period in 2023, marking a staggering 23% year-on-year increase. This performance represents the highest number of bookings recorded during this period in Cunard’s history, highlighting the enduring allure of the brand and its ability to innovate while retaining its heritage.

The impressive growth in bookings was significantly driven by the UK and North American markets, which saw respective surges of 24% and 29%. The launch of Queen Anne in May has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in capturing the imagination of travelers. In addition, Cunard introduced three enticing new cruise programs in 2024: itineraries for winter 2026 and summer 2026, launched in March, and a winter 2027 program revealed in October. These offerings not only expanded the brand’s portfolio but also successfully tapped into the burgeoning demand for immersive and luxurious travel experiences.

A notable feature of Cunard’s success is its growing international appeal. For the first time, over half of the brand’s bookings now originate from outside the UK. A targeted marketing strategy in global regions has led to a 22% rise in international guest bookings over the past year. This international interest complements the company’s success in attracting first-time cruisers, with a 49% increase in new guests between January and October 2024 compared to 2023. This dual appeal—loyal returning travelers and an influx of newcomers—illustrates the strength and adaptability of the Cunard brand in today’s competitive luxury travel market.

Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, highlighted the significance of these achievements as the company looks forward to 2025. She attributed much of the success to the introduction of Queen Anne, which has expanded Cunard’s capacity and embodied the timeless elegance and modern luxury the brand is known for. McAlister commended the efforts of Cunard’s teams and partners worldwide, emphasizing their role in ensuring the company remains synonymous with premier luxury travel.

Cunard’s ability to marry its historic prestige with a forward-looking strategy underscores its position as a leader in the luxury cruise industry. With its record-breaking performance in 2024 and the Queen Anne capturing global attention, the brand has set a strong course for continued growth and innovation in the years to come.
